Explosion Ends Season at USSSA World Series

Paola Explosion ended its season playing in the 16A USSSA World Series. While the team went 1-5 in the tournament, each game was within reach against some very strong opponents. Throughout the tournament, the team gave up 28 runs and scored 24 runs, only a 4 run difference.

Our Explosion girls improved throughout the summer, working hard and competing in every tournament. Congratulations on a great season!

Explosion Looking Good Going into Mid-June Break

Explosion went 2-2 in the 18U division of the Big Daddy tournament at Olathe this weekend before the tournament was called off due to weather. We lost close games to the Flash and to the Diamond Cutters and were victorious over the Fort Scott Tiger and the Topeka Explosion.

A storm moved in that afternoon cancelling bracket play. This was our first tournament at the 16A/18B level and our players responded well. Explosion will take a weekend off and then be back in action June 28-29.

Explosion Takes 2nd in First 2008 Tourney!

It was a long and amazing weekend for Paola Explosion in our first tournament of the year. With about half the team gone to state softball and track on Friday, we came together Saturday evening to play in the Memorial Day Grand Slam tournament at MAWSC. The girls went 4-0 in pool play outscoring their opponents 31-6. Explosion won the first bracket game, but slipped up in the second bracket game against the Predators whose bats and gloves were red hot in the last game of the evening Sunday. The Explosion girls rolled out of their beds before dawn Monday and were back at the ball fields for the 8:30 a.m. game and played six back-to-back games to snag second place in the tournament losing to Mid Mo Xtreme. Working overtime on a holiday, Explosion played 10 and a half hours of non-stop softball on Monday, and they gave non-stop effort. Overall, the girls played 12 games and outscored their opponents 67-37. A big thank you goes out to all of our players for an entertaining weekend and to the parents, brothers, sisters and friends who were there to cheer on the team.

Next stop is the Triple Crown tournament in Oklahoma City held in conjunction with the Women's College World Series. Look for great things this summer from Paola Explosion!
